A WIDOWER who lost his wife in October and his son a year before that has won £2.3m. on the National Lottery.
The 71-year-old, who has asked not to be named, won a share of a £6.9m. jackpot in May and has put most of the cash in trusts for his two daughters.
He had taken part in the lottery with his wife ever since it began but after she died he stopped.
It was not until February that he resumed – this time with different numbers.
‘I have a friend in Portsmouth who buys my tickets for me and she just rang me up and said: “You’ve won the lottery”,’ he told the Guernsey Press. ‘She said: “You’ve got a share in the jackpot”.
‘I nearly dropped the phone – I thought: “It can’t be me”.’
